AION Auto UK, a joint venture between international automotive distributor Jameel Motors and major Chinese automaker GAC Group, has marked another milestone in its UK launch journey with the first customer handover of the AION V taking place at AION Swansea, operated by Bassetts.
The handover comes less than two weeks after the first wave of AION retailers opened to customers on June 1, 2026.
The AION V, the brand’s debut model in the UK, is an all-electric family SUV designed to make the switch to electric driving simpler and more reassuring. The model combines a spacious interior, strong range, rapid charging capability and a premium feel.

Every AION V comes with the AION Great 8 Promise as standard, offering eight years of support across warranty, servicing, roadside assistance and MOT. The package reflects AION’s commitment to “Effortless Electrification” and aims to give customers greater confidence when moving to electric mobility.
Commenting on becoming one of the first AION V owners in the UK, Mrs King said:
“The quality of the AION V, both inside and out, is what first drew us to it. Being able to have a premium look and feel made it an easy decision. Plus, AION’s Great 8 Promise gave us the confidence and reassurance to try a new brand, knowing that Bassetts will support us for as long as we have the car.”
AION Auto UK has also appointed Jumptech to further simplify the EV ownership journey for customers and retailers. Through the partnership, customers can access support for home charging installation, connecting them with charge point manufacturers, energy providers and approved installers through a single platform. AION is the first OEM globally to partner with Jumptech.

The partnership is designed to reduce complexity around home charging decisions, while allowing customers to choose the charger and energy supplier best suited to their needs. It also supports AION retailers by streamlining charging enquiries and helping them stay connected with customers throughout the installation journey.
Eight AION retail sites opened across the UK on June 1, with the network expected to reach 15 sites by the end of June and 30 by the end of 2026. AION Auto UK also plans to launch its second model, the UT family hatchback, by the end of 2026, followed by two further models in 2027.
