Farizon Auto UAE, distributed by Jameel Motors, has highlighted the growing role of electric commercial vehicles in the UAE as businesses increasingly consider electrification as both a sustainability initiative and a practical business solution.

In an interview with Global Supply Chain magazine, published in its October 2026 issue, Eddy Al Chaar, General Manager, Farizon at Jameel Motors UAE, discussed the development of the UAE’s electric commercial vehicle market, including fleet economics, charging infrastructure, vehicle performance in Gulf conditions, after-sales support and the potential for wider adoption across the region.

Al Chaar noted that logistics, e-commerce and last-mile operators are showing growing interest in electric vehicles, particularly for fleets with predictable routes and high utilisation, where operators can identify opportunities to reduce operating costs.

“For logistics operators, the transition to electric must make business sense, not just environmental sense,” said Al Chaar. “We focus on the total cost of ownership: energy, maintenance, uptime, utilisation and the vehicle’s overall productivity.”

The interview also explored the importance of adapting electric commercial vehicles to the demanding operating conditions of the Gulf, including high temperatures, long operating hours and intensive fleet utilisation. Farizon combines its engineering capabilities and international experience with Jameel Motors’ understanding of the local market and customer requirements.

Charging infrastructure was another key focus. Al Chaar highlighted the progress already made in the UAE while noting that broader adoption will require cooperation between vehicle manufacturers, fleet operators, charging providers and energy companies to develop practical charging solutions suited to different fleet requirements.

“The key is not simply having more chargers but having the right charging solution for each fleet,” said Al Chaar.

Beyond the vehicles themselves, Jameel Motors UAE is developing local capabilities across after-sales service, parts availability and technical expertise, supporting vehicle uptime and customer confidence. The business also sees opportunities to further develop local talent and training as Farizon’s presence grows.

Looking ahead, the UAE is expected to play an important role in Farizon’s wider regional development. Al Chaar described the country as both an important market and a strategic base for broader GCC ambitions.

“The UAE will be our foundation, and as the market develops, we see clear potential to use that experience to support our growth across the wider GCC,” he said.
