AION Auto UK, a joint venture between leading international automotive distributor Jameel Motors and Chinese automaker GAC International, has secured three nominations across two major international automotive awards for its AION V and AION UT electric vehicles.

Both the AION V SUV and AION UT supermini have been named on the longlist for the 2027 World Car of the Year (WCOTY), while the AION UT is also a candidate for the 2027 European Car of the Year (COTY) award.

The World Car of the Year awards are judged by more than 100 automotive journalists representing 33 countries.  Jurors will test the nominated vehicles over the coming months, with voting beginning at the end of December.  The winners are scheduled to be announced at the New York International Auto Show on March 24, 2027.

Meanwhile, the European Car of the Year award is decided by 60 automotive journalists from 23 European countries.  A total of 39 models are under consideration for the 2027 award, with the list set to be narrowed to seven finalists ahead of the winner being announced at the Brussels Motor Show on January 8, 2027.

The nominations come as AION continues to establish its presence in the UK.  The AION V was the brand’s first model introduced to the market, followed by the AION UT, which arrived at UK dealerships in September as part of its wider European launch.

The AION V is an all-electric family SUV combining a spacious interior with a range of comfort and convenience features and a driving range of up to 317 miles. The AION UT, meanwhile, brings AION’s electric technology and premium features to the B-segment, offering a range of up to 268 miles.
