AION Auto UK, a joint venture between international automotive distributor Jameel Motors and Chinese automaker GAC International, has announced a new partnership with Chelsea Football Club, with AION and its parent company GAC becoming the club’s Official Automotive Partner.
The agreement brings together one of China’s leading automotive manufacturers and one of the world’s most recognised football clubs, and reigning FIFA Club World Cup champions. The partnership comes as GAC continues to expand its international presence and introduce its range of vehicles to new markets.

Through the collaboration, AION and GAC will engage with Chelsea FC’s global fanbase through joint storytelling, brand experiences and promotional activities. As part of the partnership, an AION vehicle will lead the men’s team players to the stadium, while AION branding will feature prominently at Stamford Bridge, reaching audiences both inside the stadium and around the world.

The announcement marks another milestone for AION’s expansion in the UK, following the brand’s market entry in summer 2026. Its first model, the all-electric AION V SUV, was recently joined by the AION UT electric hatchback, further expanding the brand’s offering to UK customers. Both models combine advanced technology, practicality and electric driving capabilities.
Commenting on the partnership, Jon Wakefield, General Manager, AION Auto UK, Jameel Motors UK, said: “Partnering with one of the world’s biggest football clubs gives us a global platform to showcase AION and GAC’s brand and products. This link is another big step in establishing AION as a serious UK player, and we can’t wait to work with Chelsea on some exciting projects in the coming months.”

Todd Kline, President of Commercial at Chelsea FC, added: “GAC are one of the fastest growing automotive businesses of recent years. We are proud to be partnering with them at such an exciting time, to support them in the next stage of their growth as they expand into new markets, and to build a unique partnership together.”
The partnership is expected to strengthen AION’s brand visibility in the UK and internationally, supporting its continued growth as it expands its electric vehicle portfolio and customer reach.
